THE YORUBA TRADITIONAL WEDDING CEREMONY

Quite alot people refer to this has the engagement ceremony, but i beg to differ. Its the traditional union recognized under the customary law in fact. The ceremony is one that pays homage to the families of the couple. The father and the mother of  both the bride and the groom are given special roles to perform during the ceremony.
Its a colorful event with quite alot of dancing and eating if i may say so. The programe is anchored by the Alaga Iduro for the groom's family and the Alaga Ijoko for the bride's family. The groom is ushered into the venue by his friends and family; who come to seek for the hands of the bride in  marriage. he prostrates to the bride's parent who show their acceptance of him.
the bride comes into the venue with a group of friends wearing the Aso Ebi.
I would at this junction leave the pictures to do the talking

Do have a lovely day.
